We know that each employee is a valuable asset to the Health System. That is why we have designed programs to ensure long-term careers for our employees.
Advancing Careers:
The Health System believes in the capabilities of its employees. We encourage career advancement through our internal promotion and transfer policy. There are many career success stories in our organization, and we're proud of them. Accordingly, we give our own employees priority consideration when transfer and advancement opportunities arise. If you are looking to move up professionally, need to transfer to one of our facilities that is closer to home or just need a change of pace, the Health System is a great place to move and grow.

Job Performance Plans:
Knowing what's expected and how you're doing is important information for professional success. We use a performance planning and evaluation system that has been designed by employees, for employees. We work with our supervisors to establish a performance plan for our job at the beginning of each year of service. We work with this road map in mind and are evaluated at the end of the plan year. Every new employee gets a plan during the first days of employment and an evaluation at the end of the first three months, just to help newcomers get off to a good start.

Performance Awards:
Annual performance evaluations lead to consideration for merit pay increases, something we all work hard for and look forward to. Great job performance pays off in the Health System, with merit increase awards of up to 8 percent per year.

Special Recognition:
Every calendar quarter, employees are nominated by their supervisors, peers and physicians for truly outstanding contributions. This high honor is given to five employees each quarter, one each from our professional, management, clerical, technical and service ranks. At the end of each year, a group of employees selects five Employees of the Year from each category. As you can imagine, our Employees of the Quarter and our Employees of the Year are VIPs. They receive special recognition and rewards throughout the year.

Orientation:
The Health System wants employees to feel comfortable and confident as they begin their employment. Three orientations are provided to familiarize new employees with the policies, practices and operations of the Health System and its departments. ORIENTation EXPRESS is a two-day general orientation on a variety of topics necessary for, and applicable to, all employees. Most nurses also receive an additional two days to review general nursing practices within the Health System through Nursing Orientation. A departmental orientation familiarizes orientees with procedures and expectations specific to their work areas.

Participation:
We believe that benefits, programs and services for employees should be designed by employees, for employees. The Health System is our workplace. You may have noticed that a number of our benefits, programs and services have been designed by teams of employees. It is our practice to call on employees from all levels and corners of the organization to help us set the Human Resources direction and goals. Hundreds of employees from all over the Health System have worked hard to design a truly satisfying employment package and make the Health System a better place to work. This is our number one strategy for ensuring employee satisfaction.
